Man Reunites With “Lost” Biological Mother – Realizes They Were Closer Than He Thought
(UnitedReader.com) – While some people want kids, not everyone can have them. Then, there are people who have children but can’t keep them. Adoption helps both parties as they each benefit from the act. Still, many adopted children eventually seek to find their biological parents. For one man, reconnection happened two decades later, when he discovered his biological mother had been closer to him than he ever could have imagined.
It’s completely natural and somewhat expected for an adopted child to begin to wonder who and where their biological parents are. Many even try everything they can think of to find them but often have little to no luck. Benjamin Hulleberg had all but given up on finding his birth mother until one fateful text message turned his world upside down and filled him with joy.

Hulleberg, a machine operator, recently talked to ABC News about the moment he received the text from Holly, his biological mother. According to him, he was at work, performing a quality check on a piece of hospital equipment when he read a text message from a woman telling him “happy birthday.” When he asked if he knew the woman, Holly explained who she was. Hulleberg recalled the flood of emotions, calling it a “dream come true.”
The two met with their families and caught up. As it turned out, they had both worked in the same hospital for the past two years. Hulleberg was a volunteer aid in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), while his biological mother was a medical assistant at the Heart Center at St. Mark’s.
Hulleberg hopes his story gives others in his position hope and motivation to keep moving forward.
