The Golden State has certainly taken a liking to Democrat policies and provided a boost of electoral votes for liberal presidential candidates. Despite their common political angle, it appears Biden has left a sour taste in the mouths of Californians.
President Biden hasn’t enjoyed a good approval rating throughout much of his time as the nation’s leader. His poor rating among Republicans is no surprise, but he’s been especially unpopular with independents also. Now, it appears the president is losing even more ground as one of the country’s most liberal states largely disapproves of him as well.

According to data from CIVIQS, 50% of people living in California disapprove of the president’s job so far. Meanwhile, only 40% approve, and the remaining 10% don’t have an opinion. Those numbers are far from his 61% approval on the day of his inauguration. It’s only been just over a year since Biden took the reins, and he’s already seemingly drowning in disapproval, even in the very blue state of California.
What do the numbers mean for the president? Well, it certainly isn’t looking good, with his rating hurting both him and his party. The upcoming midterms in late 2022 are beginning to look worse and worse for Democrats, who hold feeble majorities in Congress.
For Biden, this could be the beginning of the end. With ratings like his and one of the most loyal Democrat states turning its back on him, his chances of reelection seem to get slimmer and slimmer as the days pass.
