(UnitedReader.com) – Ukraine is still battling for its sovereignty against the aggressive bully-like behavior of Russia. Local forces are more than holding their own as they fight for their honor, freedom, and livelihoods. The US government is in a tight spot, both wanting to help Ukraine and stay out of the fighting to avoid escalating an already hazardous situation.
RINO Red Line
The term “red line” came during the Obama administration, when the former president threatened to bomb Syrian forces after they employed the use of chemical weapons. The threat prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin to force Bashar Assad, President of Syria, to forfeit his arsenal of chemical weapons. In exchange, Obama promised not to call an airstrike.
Now, US Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY), the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is once again using the term as leaders around the world are concerned Russia may implement the use of chemical weapons. Earlier in March, Russia claimed Ukraine was harboring chemical weapons of its own, which many people believe was a false flag so Russia could justify its own use of biological or chemical weapons.
The Republican in name only (RINO) asserted that if Russia uses such weaponry in its attack against Ukraine, it should serve as a red line for the members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to intervene in the conflict. Cheney declared the United States and its Western allies need to stop telling Russia what they won’t do. She clarified that they need to be clear they’re not leaving any options off the table. Cheney added that the use of chemical weapons is certainly a possibility the US and allies need to include in those calculations.
The Republican lawmaker also claimed Russia’s forces weren’t as capable as President Putin initially projected, adding Moscow was failing to reach its goals. Cheney may be calling for escalation against Russia, but it’s still short of encouragement from other members of Congress such as US Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT).
Kinzinger has been one of the loudest voices in Congress calling for an escalation against Russia in the form of implementing a no-fly zone over Ukraine. The move, which would involve NATO aircraft shooting down Russian aircraft, would undoubtedly lead to war. Romney, on the other hand, has insisted on allowing Poland to give Ukraine its MiG fighter jets for its defense. The Biden administration has asserted it doesn’t plan to send any fighter jets, claiming it could result in further escalation.
