(UnitedReader.com) – Donald J. Trump is a confident individual, to say the least. In fact, the former president believes that if he runs in 2024, he’s essentially a shoo-in for the Republican nomination, even with other popular GOP members hoping to stand in the way.
During an interview on Yahoo Finance Live, Trump asserted that he would beat Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) just as he would anyone else in the Republican nomination race. The former president added that he doesn’t think DeSantis would challenge him in the 2024 Republican primary.

Trump believes many candidates would drop out of the race, paving the way for him to win the nomination for a third consecutive election cycle. The results still might not be a runaway. DeSantis has gained quite a bit of popularity among GOP voters. A poll asking attendees of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) who they wanted to see leading the ballot showed 70% supporting Trump and 21% pushing for DeSantis.
When President Trump was absent from the poll, support for DeSantis skyrocketed up to 68%, but there’s no guarantee the governor will even run. DeSantis is a supporter of Trump and deflected the potential battle between the two, noting that his main focus is on doing his job and gaining reelection as the Sunshine State’s governor.
