(UnitedReader.com) – President Joe Biden has made a mess of things in Afghanistan. His botched withdrawal of American troops came at the price of losing the entire country to the Taliban. On August 26, an ISIS-K suicide bomber killed 13 US service members and more than a hundred Afghan civilians near Kabul’s international airport, prompting a swift response from Republican lawmakers.
The president was already under pressure from Republican lawmakers over his apparent lackadaisical response to Afghanistan’s fall to the Taliban. Now, in light of last week’s attack, several Republicans have called for Biden’s impeachment like Representatives Lee Zeldin (R-NY), and Matt Gaetz (R-FL), as well as Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Josh Hawley (R-MO).

Others GOP lawmakers like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), have called for Biden’s impeachment. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently submitted articles of impeachment for “dereliction of duty” for his alleged intention to leave thousands of American citizens and Afghan allies in Afghanistan after the final withdrawal of US military personnel.
On August 26, Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) sent a letter to Vice President Kamala Harris demanding she invoke the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution to remove Biden from office. As he explained, no one else in the administration was better suited to attest to the “ugly reality” of Biden’s cognitive decline.
Regardless of how those removal efforts ultimately play out, Biden’s next move could be telling.
