(UnitedReader.com) – US Marines are some of the most prideful people you’ll meet. Yet, they never let that emotion get in the way of doing what they believe is right. As many people know, Afghanistan is in chaos; 13 US service members and nearly 200 Afghans died after a recent suicide bombing near the Kabul airport. Now, an experienced Marine is speaking out about the situation.
In a video recently published on Facebook, Scheller warned viewers that his comments would likely force him to give up on dreams of a comfortable life after retirement. Yet, he didn’t let that scare him off. He expected pushback — and he appeared to be ready for it.
Scheller also demanded that senior leaders accept responsibility for blatant mistakes they made in Afghanistan. He accused them of failing to hold themselves accountable for the unfolding disaster in the Middle East.
The Corp relieved the 17-year Marine of his command shortly after the video went public. But Scheller planned to resign from the Corps, anyway, turning down nearly $2 million in benefits at the same time.
The Marine’s superior asked him to clarify his intentions, demanding to know what he hoped to accomplish by sharing the video. The brave soldier reiterated that he wanted top military brass to accept responsibility for losses in Afghanistan — including the deaths of 11 Marines, one Navy corpsman, and one Army soldier.
