(UnitedReader.com) – The battle for supremacy in Ukraine continues as Russia’s military is still conducting what President Vladimir Putin claims are special military operations. Much of the world is watching the ongoing and escalating conflict with fear. Meanwhile, others are doing whatever they think will help Ukraine fight back the Russian forces.
Just as it was during the Cold War, the conflict in Eastern Europe has turned into a battle of information. Many experts will confirm the first casualty of war is the truth. Russia is known for its propagandist techniques, convincing members of opposing countries they’re not doing anything wrong. To stop this, Apple has decided to block everyone who doesn’t live in Russia from downloading Russian news sources on their App Store.

Not only has it blocked Russian media from the rest of the world, but Apple has also stopped the sale of its products in the aggressing country. The tech giant banned its payment services in Russia after the United States imposed sanctions on the federation’s banks. In addition, Apple followed in Google’s footsteps, shutting down live traffic feeds on its map system in an effort to limit Russia’s ability to track Ukraine’s movements.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, has been an outspoken supporter of Ukraine. Breitbart News reported that Ukraine’s vice prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, urged Cook to shut down Apple services in Russia, claiming modern technology may be the only advantage against tanks, missiles and multiple rocket launchers. It seems that Cook heard the vice prime minister’s pleas for help and has acted swiftly and decisively.
