(UnitedReader.com) – The libel suit Johnny Depp filed against his ex-wife Amber Heard has finally reached its conclusion. Nonetheless, the actress’s attorney has asserted there’s no way her client could pay the court’s requested amount.

After six weeks of a very public trial, the jury in the Depp v. Heard defamation case handed down its verdict, and the judge ruled that Heard must pay Depp more than $10 million in damages. The presiding judge also issued that Depp pay Heard $2 million in damages, meaning the actress owes her ex-husband just over $8 million.
During an exclusive interview with Today, Heard’s attorney, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, asserted her client was “absolutely not” able to pay the $8.35 million in damages. Bredehoft also mentioned that Heard had a good foundation to file an appeal on the case, citing the possibility that public opinion may have influenced the jury’s decision. She went on to confirm that her client did wish to file an appeal.
Bredehoft claimed there were “a number of things” that happened in the courtroom that she believes shouldn’t have been allowed. Depp wasn’t present in court when the jury read the verdict but did express his joy that his reputation may be restored, though the trial exposed how dysfunctional Depp and Heard’s marriage had been.
Will Heard win her appeal if she chooses to follow through? What will happen if she has to pay Depp but doesn’t have the money to do so?
